Hilary Winiarz. Still Listening.

Sometimes when a door closes, a new one really does open.

In 2024, I was inspired by my son, my family, and my friends and neighbors to dig deeper and fight harder for my beloved Lake County by running for Lake County Board in District 2. I came within two-tenths of one percent of unseating the Republican incumbent. I didn’t win that election, but I learned, listened, and lifted up my community along the way.

It was my absolute privilege to run for the Lake County Board, connect with my neighbors, and hear what’s important to thousands of my fellow constituents in District 2. I am thankful to every person who supported me in that heartfelt endeavor, and I’m especially grateful for the relationships I built with so many people who love Lake County as much as I do—neighbors, voters, elected officials, and more. I also didn’t give up on Michelle Obama’s challenge to “do something.” Today, I am proud to serve my community as a Lake Zurich Rural Fire Protection Board Trustee.

Above all, I am still listening, and still dedicated to protecting and building a strong future for Lake County.  There is still work to do, and it’s my privilege to continue doing it.
